Guardian of the Gate / by Giovanni Nakpil

Work has been incredibly busy for me lately (always a good thing), which is why I am amazed that I still have some energy to devote to creating some personal works at home. I intend to update a bit more frequently once things ease down schedule-wise, but for now here is a character I created using Pixologic's awesome 3D program Sculptris. I used Zbrush as a finishing tool for all the detail work.

I was in a very Wayne Douglas Barlowe mind state while modelling this guy, who I imagine to be a towering guardian of a certain passageway in the deeper regions of hell. I wanted to play around with the proportions and gave him ridiculously long lower arms, which I think adds to the creepy factor of this tall, lanky being.
